Frances Kish Gives Her Time, Treasure, and Talent to the Zoo
It is rare to find a donor as committed as Frances Kish. A longtime volunteer, Frances is also a Heritage Society member who has remembered the Zoo in her estate plans. She exemplifies the spirit of philanthropy by giving both her time and her treasure.
Frances is generally understated when it comes to public recognition, but she agreed to share her story to inspire others to consider leaving a legacy. Like many of the Zoo's Heritage Society members, Frances has fond childhood memories of visiting the Zoo. She joined the Heritage Society because she feels good about supporting the Zoo's mission even beyond her lifetime and ensuring that children for generations to come have delightful memories of lions, tigers and bears.
Frances' commitment goes well beyond monetary. She worked for 37 years at International Shoe Co., then later for its parent company, Interco Incorporated. After her husband Steve passed away in 1998, she started volunteering at the Zoo. Her volunteer career began in the Zoo's gift shop, then shifted to helping in the Zoo's Development Office, where she keeps things running smoothly by juggling lots of projects. Seasonally she also helps at the Zoo's Information Booth, where she enjoys meeting visitors and helping them make the most of their experience. With over 9800 hours of service, she makes a wonderful difference at the Zoo.
With such a hardworking, efficient and pleasant volunteer, the Development Office is proud to honor her as friend, donor and colleague. Heartfelt appreciation abounds for Frances, a very special Zoo family member.
