David R. Ganz

David R. Ganz

Some legacies start during a lifetime. David R. Ganz has been building his legacy for decades with service and support that enriches his hometown of St. Louis.

Dave retired from the University of Missouri-St. Louis recently after 54 years, having served as a professor, dean of student affairs and department chair, as well as associate dean and director of undergraduate studies in the College of Business Administration. Complementing his academic contributions teaching thousands of accounting students, Dave has made St. Louis a better place by supporting civic, social, arts and cultural organizations as a patron, donor and volunteer on boards and committees. Theater, opera, dance, history and science have benefited from Dave's support, along with his church, schools and the Saint Louis Zoo.

As to why the Zoo is a special place for Dave, he explained, "The Zoo offers entertainment, research and educational programs for all ages. Over the years it has maintained free admission and improved its exhibits. It is a very special place indeed, where I have wonderful memories from childhood and present."

Dave is proud to have remembered his favorite organizations in his estate plan. Of his decision to name the Zoo as a charitable beneficiary , he exclaimed, "That was a no-brainer! The Zoo is indisputably at the top of my list among treasured cultural attractions in St. Louis and beyond."

The Zoo applauds Dave for investing his time, treasure and talent in the places he values-during his lifetime as well as after.
